I recently had the pleasure to attend Bernard Gustin, CEO of Brussels Airlines, at an inaugural lecture on “how to turn a crisis into opportunities” for the opening of ICHEC’s 2016-2017 academic year. His lecture was simply extraordinary; what a leader with such an inspiring and game-changing mindset.
In the last 3 years, Brussels Airlines successfully coped with several major challenges: the disruption of low cost airlines departing from Zaventem airport, the hyper volatility of the fuel prices, the eruption of Iceland’s Eyjafjallajökull volcano, the Ebola crisis and the terrorist attacks. Despite this very challenging business environment, Brussels Airlines increased its turnover by 6.9%, welcomed 30% more passengers compared to last year and was appointed the 3rd most reputable Belgian business. A bright future awaits Brussels Airlines.
