Let’s go back 4 years. It’s 2016. Donald Trump is about to become the US president, Brexit is a thing and we’re all catching pokémons on our smartphones. 2016, however, was also the year of ‘digital transformation’. As technological developments drove significant changes in customer behaviour, we were forced to rethink ways to drive growth by ‘going digital’. What that meant was different for every company, but strategic plans were drawn up and we were all going to be at the digital forefront within 4 years.

With the increased importance of digital acceleration over the last years, companies have been reaching out for help. A few common challenges that we see are misalignment of management teams, no (shared) vision to the digitization and the increasing importance of improving up their digital capabilities and presence.

Last Wednesday I attended the Uplift Virtual Summit by Insider, a series of keynotes on personalized e-commerce experiences with speakers from NASA, Prezi, and Loewe. We took to the virtual stage ourselves as well: Dennis De Cat, Growth Marketing expert and Managing Director of our sister company Upthrust, presented together with one of our clients, Torfs. He and the e-commerce Manager of the shoe brand, Karl Bosmans, discussed the set-up and results of a scalable growth process.

Like most other festivals, Tomorrowland is a no-go in times of COVID-19. Instead of skipping a year, the organizers have launched a digital alternative taking place July 25th & 26th: "Tomorrowland around the world, the digital festival". Via their computer, smartphone or tablet, visitors of all ages can explore the digital festival site and attend sets of their favorite artists. All stages are built in 3D, although DJs perform live. Even the fireworks and lazer shows are translated digitally. Nevertheless, Tomorrowland remains an unforgettable experience that can be considered as a corporate religion.
