Each year, The House of Marketing organizes the Yearly Marketing Survey. With our survey we are constantly gaining insights into new trends and challenges in the Belgian marketing landscape and are able to share this knowledge with the whole Belgian marketing community. How does technology impact your marketing business today? How can you catch the customer’s attention in today’s distracted world? And are you already leveraging marketing automation?

Some days ago, we looked at what a chatbot was all about, and how they will change the way customers interact with companies. Let’s deepen our understanding of the subject and address two other questions. What is the added value they create for marketers and will they ever replace a human being?

A few weeks ago, Facebook announced that it is opening up its Messenger platform to chatterbots. At its annual developer conference, the social media giant unveiled a way for bot developers to build bot code into the company’s Messenger communications platform. In this article, we will discuss the challenges and opportunities created by the integration of bots into messaging apps and its implication for marketers. Bots could become a game changer for those who grab the opportunity to implement them, and master the technological and organizational implications of integrating chatterbots into their communication channels mix.

Tijdens het finale event in het Felix Pakhuis op 26 april klonk het bedrijf, samen met alle geniuses en de partners, op de winnaar van deze vijfde editie: Isabeau Sas. Onder begeleiding van The House of Marketing zal dit jong marketingtalent haar winnende visie uit de doeken doen tijdens het Vlerick Marketing Colloquim op 12 mei. Lately, it seems the “full-stack” descriptive used as a proxy for “jack of all trades” profiles doesn’t just apply to developers any more. This is because start-ups and tech companies are becoming increasingly interested by a new breed of digital marketer: “the full-stack marketer”

In this Point of View I want to address three questions about the Belgian digital landscape in which all companies and citizens operate at the moment. I wonder why Belgium is still lagging behind in terms of digital maturity and e-commerce compared with other countries within the European Union? But don’t be afraid, there are government measures underway or being applied as I write. And finally I’ll try to see what can be done better because, let’s be honest, in Belgium as in France and The Netherlands, there is a slight tendency to criticise what our politicians do. It’s all part of the game.
